ロンドンで「となりのトトロ」を見ました。映画じゃありません。舞台です。息子2人と一緒に見に行きました。

I saw My Neighbor Totoro in London. It wasn’t the film—it was a stage production. I went to see it with my two sons.

イギリスのロイヤル・シェイクスピア・カンパニーが「となりのトトロ」の映画をもとに、舞台作品を作りました。2022年に始まりました。大成功して、ロングランになりました。

The Royal Shakespeare Company in the UK created a stage production based on the My Neighbor Totoro film. It premiered in 2022. It was a huge success and became a long‑running show.

ずっと見たかったので、やっと見ることができて良かったです。

In the stage production, Satsuki’s feelings was conveyed even more clearly than in the film. I could sense how her mother was always in her heart, and I could feel her small worries.

In the animated film, the scenes change quickly, so I never really thought about the characters who weren’t on screen. But in the stage production, I could feel the presence of people who weren’t on stage in that moment.

例えば両親の明るさや、村の人達のやさしさを最初から最後まで感じることができました。サツキとメイはトトロの不思議な力だけではなくて周りの人の愛にも守られていたことを発見して温かい気持ちになりました。

For instance, I could feel the parents' cheerfulness and the villagers' kindness from start to finish. Discovering that Satsuki and Mei were protected not only by Totoro's mysterious powers but also by the love of those around them filled me with warmth.
