ロンドンのカフェでフルーツサンドを食べました。すてきなお店でした。いちごのサンドイッチはおいしかったです。

I had a fruit sandwich at a café in London. It was a lovely place. The strawberry sandwich was delicious.

この写真は今年の5月に撮りました。この日、私は仕事でイーストロンドンに行きました。電車とバスで行って、30分ぐらい早く着きました。

I took this picture in May. On that day I went to East London for work. I went by train and bus and arrived about half an hour early.

仕事まで少し時間があったので、コーヒーを飲もうと思って、近くのカフェに入りました。Uchi Bakeというカフェで、日本人の方がやっているようです。おいしそうなパンがいろいろありました。いちごのサンドイッチがあって、うれしかったです。

I had some time before work, so I decided to have a coffee and went into a nearby café called Uchi Bake, which seems to be run by a Japanese person. There was a range of delicious-looking pastries. I was happy to see strawberry sandwiches.

フルーツサンドは日本では人気があります。最近、イギリスのM&Sというスーパーで売っています。

Fruit sandwiches are popular in Japan. Recently it is sold in supermarkets called M&S in the UK.

イギリスの人にはフルーツサンドは変な感じがするかもしれませんが、苺と生クリームの組み合わせはイギリスでも定番です。特にウィンブルドンのテニスの会場で食べるのが、夏の伝統だそうです。M&Sの苺クリームサンドイッチはウィンブルドンシーズンの限定メニューとして発売されました。

Fruit sandwiches may seem strange to British people, but the combination of strawberries and whipped cream is a classic in the UK. Apparently it's a summer tradition, especially to eat it at the Wimbledon tennis stadium, and M&S's strawberry cream sandwich was sold as a limited edition for the Wimbledon season.

私も一度食べてみたいんですが、いつも売り切れです。ウィンブルドンが終わるまでに食べられるか、わかりません。

I'd love to try, but they are always sold out. I don't know if I will be able to eat it before the Wimbledon tournament ends.
