先週の金曜日、朝、８時に起きました。朝ご飯を食べました。10時に出かけました。電車でロンドンの大英博物館に行きました。

Last Friday , I woke up at 8:00 in the morning. I had breakfast. I went out at 10am. I went to the British Museum in London by train.

大英博物館はロゼッタ・ストーンなどが有名です。博物館に入るのは無料です。いろいろな展示品を見ることができます。

The British Museum is famous for the Rosetta Stone. It is free to enter the museum. You can see various exhibits.

博物館の中に特別な部屋があります。特別な展示（特別展）をやっています。例えば、去年の9月から今年の2月までシルクロード展をやっていました。特別展を見たい時は、チケットを買って見に行きます。今、特別展は歌川広重の浮世絵です。とてもおもしろかったです。

There are special rooms in the museum. There are special exhibitions (tokubetsuten). For example, from September last year until February of this year, there was an exhibition about the Silk Road. When you want to see a special exhibition, you buy a ticket to go and see it. Right now the special exhibition is Ukiyo-e by Hiroshige Utagawa. It was very interesting.

歌川広重の浮世絵で日本のいろいろな場所を見ることができます。江戸時代に、江戸、今の東京から京都に旅行をする人が多くなりました。旅行する人に、旅の景色を紹介するために浮世絵がたくさん出版されたそうです。東京から海沿いの道を歩く東海道と、山の中を歩く中山道の景色を浮世絵で見ることができました。

You can see many places in Japan in Hiroshige Utagawa's Ukiyo-e. During the Edo period, many people travelled from Edo, (now Tokyo) to Kyoto. It is said that many Ukiyo-e were published to introduce the scenery of the journey to those who travelled. Ukiyo-e showed the scenery of the Todaido, a road from Tokyo along the sea coast, and the Nakasendo, a road through the mountains.

また、大英博物館の中にはいつでも無料で見られる日本ギャラリーがあって、こちらもおすすめです。5階にあるのでちょっと遠いですが、すばらしい内容です。日本ギャラリーでは毎月2回茶道のデモンストレーションがあるそうです。

There is also the Japanese Gallery in the British Museum, which is always free to look at, and which I also recommend - it's on the fifth floor, so it's a bit far away, but it's excellent inside. In the Japanese Gallery, it is said that there are tea ceremony demonstrations twice a month.
