Last Sunday, I didn’t go out anywhere. I stayed at home. At home, I made hojicha.
Do you like Japanese tea? Which type of Japanese tea do you like? I like hojicha best of all. I have a lot of Japanese tea at home. Some of it is tea I’ve been given as gifts.
When I buy tea myself, I buy hojicha, but when people give me tea, it’s usually green tea. Not tea bags, but loose-leaf tea. It might be high-quality tea. Sometimes I can’t finish the green tea, so I end up with a lot left over at home. Even with good tea, once you open the packet, you have to drink it soon or the aroma will fade. I feel it’s a shame to waste it.
I saw a method online for making hojicha by putting green tea in the oven, so I gave it a try. It was simple, and it made the kitchen smell lovely.
