Last Thursday, I finished work at 5 o’clock. I went into London on my own. I went to see a play starting at half past seven in the evening.
I had a little time to spare before the play. I was hungry. I bought some bread from a nearby shop and ate it. That day, the sunset was beautiful.
I arrived at the theatre. It was a small theatre accommodating about 200 people. It was almost full. As it was a horror play, I felt excited. The play was called *The Turn of the Screw*. It’s a story about an old, big house in England. It’s a wealthy family’s home, but it feels somehow gloomy and scary.
When the lights went out and the play began, we heard a woman scream, ‘Aaaah!’ I jumped out of my seat. The person next to me was startled.
Jumping up when I’m surprised is my bad habit. I imagine my family and those around me sometimes find it annoying sometimes. I think the person sitting next to me in the theatre found my jumping up even scarier than the screams in the play. The person to my right and the person to my left were both holding beers. I was glad they didn’t drop their cups.
