きのう、うちで晩ごはんをつくりました。フィッシュパイを食べました。おいしかったです。

Yesterday, I made dinner at home. We had fish pie. It was delicious.

私は魚が好きです。パイ料理も好きです。昔、イギリス人の友達の家で初めてフィッシュパイを食べました。パイの中は魚と、野菜と、ゆで卵です。やさしい味でした。とてもおいしくて、おかわりしました。それから、レシピを聞きました。

I like fish. I also like pies. Many years ago, I first tried fish pie at my British friend's house. Inside the pie was fish, vegetables, and boiled eggs. It had a gentle flavour. It was so delicious I had seconds. Afterwards, I asked for the recipe.

友達が教えてくれたレシピはジェイミー・オリバーという、イギリスの有名なシェフのレシピです。材料はシンプルだし、作り方も簡単なのでときどき作っています。

The recipe my friend told me was Jamie Oliver's, a famous British chef. The ingredients are simple and it's easy to make, so I sometimes cook it.

魚は鱈などの白身の魚や、鮭などを使います。ソースはクリームでマスタードが少し入っています。パイと言ってもパイ生地で包んだパリパリのパイではなくて、上につぶしたじゃがいもがのっています。

For the fish, it uses white fish like cod, or salmon etc. The sauce is a cream sauce with a little mustard in it. Though it's called a pie, it's not a crispy pastry-crusted pie; it has mashed potatoes on top instead.
