先週の土曜日に知りあいのうちで、バーベキューがありました。おおみやげを持って行きました。

Last Saturday, there was a barbecue at an acquaintance’s house. I took a gift with me.

その夫婦はお酒とおいしい料理が好きです。おみやげは梅酒にしました。それから、日本のてぬぐいもいっしょにあげました。てぬぐいはロンドンのジャパンハウスで買いました。ジャパンハウスにあるものは高いけど、プレゼントにはぴったりです。梅酒のびんをてぬぐいで包みました。

That couple love alcohol and good food. I gave them some plum wine as a gift. I also gave them a Japanese tenugui. I bought the tenugui at Japan House in London. The items at Japan House are a bit pricey, but they’re perfect for gifts. I wrapped the bottle of plum wine in the tenugui.

息子の彼女のうちに招待されました。明日、よかったらバーベキューに来て！他にも友達がくるから、と気軽な感じで呼んでくれたのですが、やっぱり少し緊張しました。連絡をもらった時にちょうど、ロンドンの町にいたので、てぬぐいを買えてよかったです。バーベキューはおいしかったし、おみやげもよろこばれたし、楽しかったです。

We were invited to our son's girlfriend’s house. Would you like to come to a barbecue tomorrow, if you’re free? Other friends will be coming too, they said in a relaxed tone, but I was still a little nervous. I happened to be out and about in London when I received the message, so I was glad I’d managed to buy the tenugui. The barbecue was delicious, the gift was well received, and we had a lovely time.
