金曜日に友だちのうちに行きました。かわいい赤ちゃんに会いました。

I went to a friend’s house on Friday. I met a lovely baby.

先月、友だちのうちに赤ちゃんが生まれました。赤ちゃんは小さくてかわいかったです。友達に出産祝いをあげました。みなさんは出産のお祝いをあげたり、もらったりしたことがありますか。どんなお祝いがいいと思いますか。私は赤ちゃんのタオルにしました。

Last month, a baby was born to a friend of mine. The baby was tiny and sweet. I gave my friend a baby gift. Have any of you ever given or received a baby gift? What sort of gift do you think is best? I decided on a baby towel.

友達のうちには3歳のお兄ちゃんがいるので、赤ちゃんのものは何でも持っているだろうと思いました。何をあげたらいいかわからなくて、友達に聞いてみたら、ベビー服はうれしいと言っていました。お兄ちゃんは冬に生まれたけど、赤ちゃんは夏生まれだから、夏のベビー服が足りないそうです。

As my friend has a three-year-old son, I thought they’d probably already have everything they needed for the baby. I wasn’t sure what to give, so I asked my friend, and she said she’d be delighted with some baby clothes. Her son was born in winter, but as the new baby was born in summer, she said they were short of summer baby clothes.

他には赤ちゃん用のお風呂タオルがないと言っていました。タオルは長く使ってもらえるからタオルにしました。それと絵本も1冊あげました。

Other than that, she also mentioned they didn’t have any bath towels for the baby. I chose a towel because it’s something they can use for a long time. I also gave the baby a picture book.
