うちの近くにバス停があります。でも、今はバスが来ません。

There’s a bus stop near my house. But the buses aren’t running at the moment.

最近、うちの近くで工事をしています。車でその道を通ることができません。バスもそこを通ることができません。バスに乗る時は遠いバス停まで歩いていかなければなりませんから、不便です。

There’s been some roadworks near my house recently. You can’t drive along that road, and the buses can’t go that way either. It’s inconvenient because I have to walk all the way to a bus stop further away when I want to catch a bus.

金曜日に出かけた時に、バス停に行ったら、バスは来ないと書いてあって、こまりました。工事のことを知らなかったんです。その日はとても暑かったし、私は重い荷物を持っていたので、遠くまで歩きたくありませんでした。それで、Uberを呼びました。

Last Friday, when I went out and went to the bus stop, there was a sign saying the buses weren’t running, which was a bit of a problem. I hadn’t realised there was roadworks on. It was very hot that day, and as I was carrying heavy luggage, I didn’t want to walk that far. So, I called an Uber.

待っている間に、通りがかりの人が次々に「今日はバスが来ないよ」「このバス停は今、使われてないよ」と教えてくれました。私は10人ぐらいの人に「Uberを呼んだから大丈夫です」と説明しなければなりませんでしたが、近所の人がやさしくて、うれしかったです。

While waiting, people passing by kept telling me, ‘The bus isn’t running today’ or ‘This bus stop isn’t in use at the moment’. I had to explain to about ten people that ‘I’ve called an Uber, so it’s fine’, but I appreciated the kindness of the locals.
